Newport Marathon

Each October, thousands of runners, joggers, and walkers will culminate at Easton’s Beach in Newport, Rhode Island to undertake the 26.2 mile Amica Newport Marathon, a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. This  year’s Newport Marathon will be held on October 8, 2017.

Runners of all levels are welcome to participate in either the full marathon or the half marathon of 13.1 miles. The course is the perfect way to experience everything Newport has to offer; from quaint cobblestones streets, to sandy beaches, and famous mansions. The scenic route takes participants through historic Downtown Newport, and along the famous Ocean Drive, a historic road that winds through seaside mansions and endless ocean views. The course continues through the Salve Regina University campus and past the largest and most ornate of the Newport Mansions, The Breakers. At this point the participants will recognize their view as they near mile 13, and the finish line for the half marathon participants, which is back at Easton’s Beach. Marathon runners will have reached the halfway point as they continue their journey through the neighboring town of Middletown, RI. The course brings them along the edge of town passing two of the more secluded beaches where they might glimpse some surfers, and circles back around where they will finish again at Easton’s Beach. You can find the full course info on this interactive Newport Marathon map.
